WQ:40 Power To the People: A celebration of Queer agency, community, history, excellence and joy

As we reflect on our histories, what are the lessons we have learned along the way?

Wicked Queer as an organization started in 1984 making this our 40th year of illuminating our stories and our community’s histories through the magic of film. Turning 40 generally symbolizes the start of a transformative chapter, one that is filled with potential for unparalleled growth and new beginnings. We look forward to seeing us as community grow and evolve in the next decade and further as we gather, organize, celebrate and uplift those stories and persons who need a bit more of our collective power and attention.

As we reflect on our histories, what are the lessons we have learned along the way? In looking back, we also give acknowledgement to the activism and the strength, and the trauma and the grieving, we carry with us as community allowing us to heal and honor our forebears, as well as, celebrate our collective joy.

Looking forward, while there is always more work to be done, united together we have proven we can and we will be unstoppable. Please consider this your open invitation to gather together with us in community to celebrate ourselves in cinema and the many facets of our collective culture.

With strength and love,
